Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) better known by her real title Ari Lennox is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist signed to J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. The first album she released on the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she began gaining fame. Shea Butter Baby released her debut studio album on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox posted her music to the internet in 2012 after she released her Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to release her music on the internet including her independently release single Bound. Sweat It is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21 2015. J. Cole was interested by her talent and was looking to work with Rihanna. It was announced on December 8, that she had signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track she sang alongside Cozz on the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. The 21st of October, 2016, she released her debut EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed as part of her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening artist. The singer also performed in the music videos Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus with Bas and her labelmates. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on September 5. In November, she released the singles forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. On November 13 she then released two more singles called The No One and Pedigree. She appeared with Cole on the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16and later made the track available as a single by herself for her debut album. The track was made available with a video posted on YouTube on February 20, 2019, was watched more than three million times over the first 7 days. As a supporting act she performed in concert with 6LACK in December 2018 on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
